Strength For Life: Intro | Ep 1
In our very first episode, we (Dr. Matt & Nicole Klingler) share the story behind Strength for Life—why we created this podcast, who it’s for, and what you can expect. Whether you’re just starting your health journey like Lynn, trying to stay consistent like Grandma Penny, or fine-tuning your training like Grandpa Ken, this podcast is for you.
We’ll pull back the curtain on our own lives as parents, business owners, and fitness professionals—sharing both wins and struggles—while giving you practical, science-based strategies for getting stronger, healthier, and aging well.
Expect real conversations, actionable takeaways, and a vision for how strength training can transform your life—at home, in the gym, and for the long haul!

The history of Village is so inspiring. What a family you have created. What amazes me is how you combined your passion for purposeful exercise with overcoming adversity during the founding of Village and during Covid. And how great your hiring choices have been and continue to be. Village has been a real blessing!

Well, I have known you both for several years. It was reaaly enjoyable to hear the backstory of how you met, coming up with Village, the lockdowns where you put it all together, etc., etc. I remember you inflicting pain on my body while we discussed business!! Your comments about starting up the business and looking for a location, then government/city issues, building customer base, etc., etc. Cash flow being non existent when you started San Marino. I can identify with all of it. When we were building out our current location, The Commons was also being built. But it was a union job. We were not (couldn’t afford it). The property owner gave me a call that the union was going to shut the entire project down and that I had to go talk to them. So, I went to their Union Hall, met two monster/huge guys, they escorted me out to their car, put me in it and we talked. Fortunately, somehow I talked my way out of it and they backed down. Just one of the fun experiences. Happy you started Village and that you keep moving forward. My only comment is that going forward, shorter is better. Carvinig out an hour or so is tough. And I see that future podcasts are shorter.

As a client at Village Fitness (both the group classes, PT & nutrition), I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the backstory of how this amazing gym came to be! It has been such a blessing in my life and for many in the community. Looking forward to hearing more! . I think Burbank and/or Santa Clarita would be a great next location!
